I’ve been a big fan of Allison V. Smith‘s photography for a while now. She’s based out of Dallas and her work features a lot of Texas subject matter. I know there’s been quite a bit published about Marfa in the past few years but I really love her photos of the town, which seem to capture both a Donald Judd-like minimalism and the stark landscape of the area. I went down there for a wedding a few years back and had a great time… these photos remind me of that trip. By the end of it I was so thirsty and hot that I swore I would never go back. But now the Ballroom Marfa folks are building this crazy new “Drive In” outdoor film theater. You can learn more about it here. It sounds so cool, I may have to head back out to the desert at some point. As long as I get to jump in Balmorhea again, I’ll probably be alright.

I agree the photography is outstanding.
Not being familiar with Balmorhea, I really
appreciated the link. I can see why you would
    want to return.
